Drama as angry woman tears husband’s passport at Lagos Airport
A dramatic scene unfolded at Lagos Airport on Saturday when a Nigerian woman tore up her husband’s international passport shortly after they returned from abroad.
The incident, which has been criticized as the destruction of government property, has sparked public outrage and calls for legal action.
A video circulating online shows the woman, visibly angry, dismissing questions about her actions with, “Is it your passport?” She then left her husband behind, taking their children and telling him, “If you want to sleep there, sleep there. This is Nigeria; this is where you will be.”
Bystanders, including airport officials, tried to console the husband, urging him to stay calm and not react to his wife’s outburst.
The woman’s behavior has been condemned not only as an emotionally charged public spectacle but also as a serious legal offense, given that passports are considered property of the Nigerian government.
Reactions on social media have been mixed. One user, @STDpicks, remarked, “Hope she knows it’s a crime to destroy government property, and she could face jail time.”
Another user, @__jaidz, criticized her actions: “I don’t know why some women act without considering the consequences. She’ll probably regret this later. Women need to think logically and not act solely on emotions.”
The incident has also sparked a broader conversation about marital dynamics and respect, with some users questioning the relationship’s foundation and others urging caution before making judgements without hearing both sides of the story.
