Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has dissolved the caretaker chairmen of all 44 local government areas with immediate effect.

The announcement was made through a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature.

This decision comes just a week after the Kano State House of Assembly granted a two-month extension to their tenure, which was originally set to expire on September 8. The extension was aimed at maintaining continuity in local governance ahead of the local government elections scheduled for October 26.

In his directive, Governor Yusuf instructed the chairmen to hand over leadership to their respective Directors of Personnel Management. The dissolution includes all chairmen, vice chairmen, secretaries, and councillors.

Governor Yusuf thanked the outgoing caretaker chairmen for their service and hinted at potential opportunities for future collaboration. This move sets the stage for the forthcoming elections, which will likely shape the local political landscape in Kano State.
