Nigerian prostitution ring bursted in Cyprus, three arrested

Authorities in Limassol are in the process of dismantling a Nigerian prostitution ring, following the arrest of three women in collaboration with the anti-trafficking unit.

The investigation began last year when a woman initially reported a theft but later revealed she was a victim of sex trafficking.

After further questioning, police confirmed her status as a trafficking victim, and she was relocated to a safe house. The investigation was delayed due to the limited information the victim could provide about her traffickers.

On October 9, police arrested a 44-year-old woman believed to be involved in the operation, followed by another arrest on October 18, and a third woman, aged 33, was apprehended on Tuesday.

Authorities are still searching for two men connected to the case. Police spokesman Christos Andreou confirmed that significant evidence has been gathered, and the case is expected to go to court soon.
