One dead, three injured in Abeokuta road accident

A tragic road accident along Olomore Housing Road, Abeokuta, has claimed the life of a 25-year-old motorcyclist, Muhammad Dahuru.  

The accident, which occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, involved a Toyota Camry with the number plate Lagos SMK 303 BX, driven by 45-year-old Ayodeji Oyedele.

Also involved were two motorcycles ridden by 29-year-old Ajayi Yusuf and the deceased, as well as a tricycle driven by 36-year-old David Samuel.

News360 Nigeria reports that Dahuru succumbed to his injuries, while three others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

She noted that the injured victims were treated and discharged at the Daverose Hospital, Olomore, Abeokuta, while the remains of the deceased were released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites after being confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

Odutola said, “The Ogun State Police Command received a tragic incident involving multiple car crashes leading to the death of one person.

”The accident involved a Toyota Camry (Reg. No. Lagos SMK 303 BX), driven by Ayodeji Oyedele (M), 45 years, along with two motorcycles and a tricycle.

“Unfortunately, one motorcycle rider, Muhammad Dahuru (M), 25 years, lost his life, while three others sustained injuries.

“The Injured victims are- David Samuel (M), 36 years –tricycle rider, Ajayi Yusuf (M), 29 years – motorcycle rider and Balogun Lekan (M), 50 years – pillion passenger.”

Odutola revealed that the accident was caused by reckless and dangerous driving on the part of the Toyota Camry driver, adding that the suspect had been taken into custody, and further investigations were ongoing by the Motor Traffic Division of the Ogun State Police Command.

The Command, however, assured members of the public that justice would be served and urged motorists to adhere strictly to road safety regulations to prevent further loss of lives.
