Remain in your party, you are not welcomed to APC – Omo-Agege knocks Okowa, Oborevwori
Former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has declared that Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and his predecessor, Ifeanyi Okowa, are not welcome in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He urged them to remain in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking at an APC stakeholders’ meeting in Ika South and Ika North East Local Government Areas, Omo-Agege, who was the party’s 2023 governorship candidate in Delta, emphasized that APC is gaining strength in the state. He noted that the only PDP senator is set to join the APC, alongside some members of the House of Representatives.
He dismissed claims that APC is weak in Delta, stating:
“After the 2023 elections, PDP spread false propaganda that APC no longer exists in Delta. But we won two senatorial seats and two House of Reps seats. The only PDP senator is now set to join us. Are we not the majority party?”
Omo-Agege highlighted APC’s electoral successes in Delta Central, where he and Governor Oborevwori hail from, stressing that PDP performed poorly in the last elections.
He accused the Oborevwori administration of downplaying APC’s influence and insisted that Okowa and Oborevwori should stay in PDP rather than attempt to defect.
“We have built this party from scratch, and we will not allow people with questionable records to destroy what we have worked hard for,” he said.
He reassured APC members that internal disputes would be resolved before 2027 and urged them to take advantage of PDP’s internal crisis.
“Are we even sure PDP will still exist in 2027? Their crisis at the national level is worsening. Our focus should be on winning the next elections and re-electing President Bola Tinubu.”
APC National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Felix Morka, also assured party members that all internal disagreements within the Delta APC would be addressed before the next general elections.
Several APC leaders at the event, including Hon. Fada Ibudeh, Chief Stevenson Ikpade, and Dr. Chamberlain Dunkwu, stressed the need for unity and reconciliation to strengthen the party ahead of 2027.
