Manchester United has officially announced Ruben Amorim as the new head coach, stepping in for Erik ten Hag, who was recently dismissed from the role.

Amorim, a highly regarded Portuguese coach with a record of success at Sporting Lisbon, including two Primeira Liga titles, has signed with United through 2027.

The club stated, “Manchester United is delighted to announce the appointment of Ruben Amorim as head coach of the men’s first team, subject to work visa requirements.”

Amorim is set to take over the team on November 11, bringing fresh leadership and ambition to Old Trafford.

United described Amorim as “one of the most exciting and highly rated young coaches in European football”.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue to take charge of the team until Amorim arrives at Old Trafford.

United sacked Ten Hag on Monday after a 2-1 defeat by West Ham left them languishing 14th in the Premier League, with just three wins from nine matches.
