Tragedy as unknown gunmen abduct 10 travellers in Ondo

In a recent incident, at least 10 travellers were reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen along the Owo-Ipele-Benin Highway in Ondo State.

According to the state’s police spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, seven individuals were confirmed kidnapped during the attack.

Sources from Akure, the Ondo State capital, disclosed that the victims, who were returning from a South-South state, were on their way to Akure when the assailants struck.

The commercial vehicle they were travelling in was later found abandoned by the roadside, triggering alarms from other drivers in the area.

Odunlami assured the public that the police are actively investigating the matter and that further updates will be provided as the situation unfolds.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that the kidnappers have contacted the families of the victims and are demanding ransom for their release.
