Tensions flared as operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) stormed the Kogi Government Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, in a bid to arrest former Governor Yahaya Bello.

A video has surfaced capturing the chaotic moment when EFCC officers surrounded the lodge, with reports suggesting sporadic gunfire during the operation.

According to Ohiare Michael, the Director of the Yahaya Bello Media Office, the EFCC agents attempted to forcibly arrest the former governor, despite an earlier visit by Bello to the commission’s office where he was reportedly told to leave and return at a later date.

Michael criticized the action, describing it as a politically motivated attack, and held the anti-graft agency accountable for any potential harm to the ex-governor. The EFCC has yet to provide an official statement on the incident.
